6 Festive Hairstyles for Short Hair

With the holidays approaching your calendar is probably filling up with dinner parties and other celebrations. And we know, you want to look festive and glammy all throughout the party season! Are you a short hair girly? No worries! Short haircuts, like shoulder-length bobs, and pixie cuts are very popular right now, and they’re super easy to style!

There are lots of ways to make short hair look fabulous, even when you only have minutes to spend on your hair. From beautiful accessories that add that little extra spark to your hairdo to simple half-up-half-down looks.

We’ve listed our top 6 festive hairstyles for short hair to inspire you and try something new during the holidays!

Side Twists

This look involves creating a row of chic side twists on one side of your head, and it makes it perfect for naturally curly hair. For this look it’s best to create it in freshly washed hair, because this makes it easy for you to create the twists.

Start by applying a leave-in conditioner and/or any anti-frizz to soften and smoothen the hair. Use a comb to create a small side section above your ear. Turn that section into three or four small twists, starting at the front of your head and going halfway to the back. Each twist must be secured with a clear elastic. To finish the look, add some sparkly bobby pins and secure the twists close to your head.

French Twist

If your hair is bob length or longer, this is the perfect look for you! Especially if you’re into the model-off-duty vibe. This look can easily be glammed up for the holidays by adding some sparkly hair accessories to it.

Start with dry hair and a clean center part. Use hair product that adds texture to your hair together with our SilkyStraight or SilkyAir Flex, to create messy volume. Then collect your hair into a loose ponytail at the nape of your neck. Roll it up the back of your head while tucking the ends as you go. Use bobby pins to secure the roll in place, and then pull out some small sections to frame your face.

Half Up with a Bow

Do you want an even more easy hairstyle than the French Twist? Then the half up with a bow is your look! This look is easiest to create with messy curls, so it’s perfect for second-day hair.

Start with spraying a texture or wave spray in your hair and scrunch for extra volume. Grab a section of hair at your crown, teasing it underneath to create lift. Then add a small section from the front on each side to create a half-up-half-down ponytail and secure it with a clear elastic band. Tie a red ribbon (or any colour you like) around the elastic and you’re ready for any holiday party!

Braided Tiara

When you want to look elegant and sophisticated, the braided tiara look is the perfect holiday hairstyle for short hair.

Start with your hair curled into loose waves using the autowrap attachments with our SilkyAir Flex and add some hair oil or anti-frizz product to provide workable hold. Then take a small section of hair above and behind each ear and braid it to the end. Secure with a bobby pin. Then gently tug the braids apart to add volume and pull them over your head to the other side and pin them in place behind your ear.

Now create a second braid on each side, right behind the other one. Secure with a bobby pin, loosen, and wrap it around your head. Pin it behind the first one to create the illusion of a tiara.

Creative Hair Accessories

Don’t underestimate to power of hair accessories. They can add a touch of glam to curly, wavy, or straight short hair in seconds! Start by adding shine and remove frizz by applying hair oil to your hair.

Now it’s time to get creative. Wear a fun metallic headband, pull back the hair on one side with a sparkly hair pin, or pull your hair back into a half-up style with a hair tie with some sparkly or metallic details on it. If you’re feeling extra creative, you can make your own holiday hair accessories. Take some bobby pins and glue tiny trinkets like bows or rhinestones onto it and use them to pull your hair back to one side.

Slicked Back Hair

One of the easiest hairstyles but ultra-chic! The wet look (or slicked-back hair) is easiest to create when your hair is short, like a pixie bob or bob length, and straight. It can be created in second-day hair or freshly washed. When you choose for freshly washed, add a heat protectant spray and use our SilkyAir Pro to blow dry your hair. Use our SilkyStraight to straighten and smooth out any waves or curls.

Start with using a comb to section off your crown and tease gently to add lift and volume. Brush your hair straight back and use a small amount of hair oil to tame baby hairs and then add a hair product (like soft wax) to hold the hair in place. Smooth out the hair with a fine-toothed comb and you’re done!
